Brown rice is good. How did you make them, can you give the recipe?
SusuPetal:
It's so easy even you can do it, Susu:
1/2 cup water - bring to a boil
1/2 cup brown rice - stir in until returns to a boil
reduce heat to medium and cook 15 -20 minutes - stirring occasionally
remove from heat and cover - let stand for 5 minutes
here's the best part - add some wildflower honey and eat! :)
"stirring occasionally"
I always turn heat way down and never take lid off....
I like the image much - you have made a simple grain evocative and timeless.
Interesting post and thanks for sharing the recipe.
They look just like beans.
John M. Mora:
Yes, that probably works much better than an extra 5 minutes, covered, off the heat.
Shobha:
Thank you and you're welcome. :)
While the rice is cooking I like to make a little something to go with it:
1 pat of butter
1 tbs olive oil
3 slices of onion (diced)
3 large, fresh mushrooms (diced)
1/3 cup kielbasi (diced)
- heat oil and butter in a shallow pan with a pinch of oregano and seasoned salt; add onions, mushrooms and kielbasi, cook until ingredients begin to brown; add rice, stir thoroughly and cook 5 more minutes; serve hot and eat with a sprinkle of your favorite grated cheese

They do look like beans in this close-up, Hèléne, but it's brown rice just the same. Too, so sorry that you didn't get any but Susu gobbled it all up! :O
