The rains came -

"Hat, Coat, Umbrella"
digital collage by Mick Mather
All things considered, I can't complain too much about the weather. It's been a warm, dry spring thus far and we could use a few days of steady, soaking rain. A good thing too, since it's here to stay for the next few days.

NEW from Greymoor Walk

"Said the Man in a Hat, This Way"
manipulated digital photograph by Mick Mather
As I so often say, it's fascinating what we see in an image. The title of today's post points to what it is that my own mind has conjured up. I must admit that, through the majority of my walks, I always wore a bush hat. It was fabulous for inhibiting most attacks by black flies and mosquitoes during that part of each spring season when those flying critters could be particularly nasty. Some fond memories have been evoked by this piece.

Hey Diddle Diddle -

"The Bandbox Hat"
digital collage by Mick Mather
While fiddling around with a pattern for gaiters, a word that crops up in a lot of the Sherlock Holmes stories by the way, one thing led to another. As I began adding some drawn shapes and moving things around, out popped this hat, peculiar to marching bands whose uniforms, as coincidence would have it, often include gaiters.
