As promised yesterday, here's another version of "Stimulus Package I". Please see yesterday's post for a number of links if interested in knowing more. Here I'll reveal that the piece was constructed from an advertising insert in the Sunday papers, hence the title. As the piece itself disintegrates, let the individual power of the consumer return quickly to normal as the sort of real stimulus that will serve to disintegrate these difficult economic times. That said, it appears that the piece was recently taken away by an individual as opposed to the sort of entropy that was hoped for. Now, I need to decide if there should be a Stimulus Package II ... the answer is, "I think so." Stay tuned.

Another stimulus package?

I'm already hard at work on the sequel to Seth Apter's project, Disintegration Collaboration, with a series of digital prints. These will come into existence as manipulations of a series of photographs I took of the only bit that remained from Stimulus Package I, a piece of string. You can see the original photograph at my other blog, No Matter What Shape-The Archive. I've also begun toying about with the idea of creating a sculpture that will use the string as a foundation, coating it with plaster and shaping it as I go along. Then what? Out into the wild again for further disintegration? ... and he scratches his head!

For those of you who may have missed yesterdays post of my final documentation of "Stimulus Package I" at No Matter What Shape - The Archive, here's a before and after composite. We now know that the next step in the Disintegration Collaboration is to take what's left of our individual projects and create something new. I've already begun playing around with the photographic record with an eye toward creating a limited edition portfolio of digital prints, more composites and who-knows-what 3D object will escape from the studio.

Once again, here we are with a BIG reveal for Seth Apter's way fab Disintegration Collaboration Project. Today, many of us are posting what we've created from the remains of our original works. As can be seen by the image above, for me that wasn't much. Even so, I pressed forward with what I had to create an artists' book called "From the Proverbial Ashes" that you can download for FREE as a PDF document at MediaFire (a file hosting service). Have at it!

Redflag: Inadvertently, I failed to title the print on page 7 of the PDF - the result of Stimulus Package II (Original Photograph #4) - it should have been titled "Stimulus Package II (Birdhouse XVIII Version)". Hmmm, this correction is a bit of a puzzle in and of itself, yes?

Disintegration Admiration Project -

I've done my first 3-dimensional study for the Disintegration Admiration project that Seth is doing over at his blog, The Altered Page ... it's an interesting idea and you should go have a look. I may or may not create another, improved design since this one is sure to disintegrate totally in the first heavy rain. On the one hand, that's exactly the point; on the other hand I might like to get more than a few days of documentation. Whatever I decide, this seems to be kick-starting my outdoor activity for the coming year and I feel great about that!

I ran an old fractal (that seemed a good, abstract fit for an ascending order of things) through the usual array at the Secret Visual Laboratory and posted it here for your perusal. "Stimulus Package I (First Day of Spring)"

I meant to post this one a few weeks ago but forgot all about it. The work hails from Seth Apter's wonderful net art project, Disintegration Admiration, that is up to 118 participants at last count. It was a bright and sunny day compared to the weather seen in "Disintegration Admiration - The Movie". On Monday I'll post another version and, perhaps, reveal a bit more about my participation and the current stautus of this piece.

I was fiddling around with the Disintegration Collaboration photographs for Part II of Seth Apter's project. It's a lot of fun seeing what one can do with a simple photograph of a piece of string and todays post took a distinct left turn from what I thought I was creating. Anyway, here's another of the series of digital prints that will be revealed on August 1st.

It's high time for me to get back to work on the next step in Seth Apter's Disintegration Collaboration project. The reveal is due on August 1st and a series of digital photographs of what remained of my original piece needs attention. So, back to the drawing table.
