Thursday Challenge: Autumn -

Yes, autumn is this week's theme at Thursday Challenge with leaves as a sub-theme. While I was out walking through the neighborhood the afternoon sun was just right, lighting up these multi-colored beauties. While I was out there, I was fortunate to find a cherry tree with 3 ripe orbs hanging from a nub of a branch as well as a long limb full of crab apples on another small tree. The air was cool, the sky was blue, a riot of color was at every point of the compass and my how the birds did sing. Next year, I think I ought to plant a few pumpkin seeds here and there in the wild corners of the big back yard.

Autumn leaves are falling -

There's a wealth of natural detritus spread along a footpath, a wooded trail, an unpaved access road, a slope, a hill and a few depressions not far from my front door. A few of these locations, as I've been quietly walking them, have begun to whisper their own ideas upon the wind. Mixed with my own, hazy details begin to take form and now this study. The piece is an intended cube that will be a square yard in size and comprised of natural materials, including the colorful leaves of Autumn as they appear, all knit together in layers or as a basket or, who knows. I'll document the piece when it's been built ... sometime within the next 2 months I should imagine. Wait for it!
