"Norma was hot. This created plenty of tension at the backyard barbecue when DonnaSue arrived. Bedecked in a doubled strand of white pearls and a checkered cocktail outfit, she was even hotter." - a flicktion by Mick Mather
I love these retro gals! They are the grown up ladies I remember from my childhood. I love the contrast between the appearance and the behavior... very realistic!
susupetal: As you say, the atmosphere is just that. Too, there are those subtle background elements - the fiery glow from the grill and billows of smoke that hint at a certain chaos fueled by the heat and humidity! :D
carla: Retro indeed. My favorite part is DonnaSue's scarf, worn like a headband - very chic in the day.
this is a cool shot of (forgive me) I think real American women. In so many American movies I saw these typical(tiptop)beauties. Hope I am not insulting anyone. Hope they had nice conversations!
griesmail: No need to forgive, the comment is not offensive to me in any way. In fact, I like the way that you see this piece. I enjoy a tiptop beauty from time to time whether she's American or not. You enjoy the weekend too, Trijnie ... here, in step with this theme, temps are going to be hot, hot, hot! In the 90's all weekend!
In its short-sightedness, blogger has turned its back on those of us stuck with old operating systems and I'm forced to find a new blog host. You will now find MickMathersARTblog at Blog.com - use the direct link found in the masthead and remember to update your bookmarks.
This place will continue as another archive for a large body of my work. As many of you know, my primary medium and working method is digital collage composed of manipulated photographs often combined with digital drawing & generative images.
Netlabels, bands and musicians can view samples of my CD Cover Art at Mick Mather Illustration located on Tumblr.
In another life I was an Arts & Culture consultant specializing in revitalization planning through creative public art projects and programs with Economic & Community Development Departments of towns, villages and cities. In these hard financial times this work is more important than ever and I still accept consultancy inquiries. You can contact me by email at: mickmather@yahoo.com

This is hot. Also the colours are hot. That woman (Norma) has nice expression. Perhaps she's very talkative? ;)
Oh dear, this doesn't promise a succesful evening for the ladies. Better to be cool than hot, that's my opinion.
Very 50's your pic somehow, maybe the hairdo does it? The atmospeher seems thick with heat already.
A magical capture of a moment. Good.
