Subtract is the weekly theme at Illustration Friday and who hasn't had this issue with their car insurance company? Anyway, it did seem to fit and here you have it.

I should mention that, since Sunday is my birthday, I'll only be around and about from time to time for the next ten days or so. Too, I'm on vacation all of next week and expect that I'll quite likely go unplugged. Posts will be seen every day, as usual, but will be timer-loaded over the weekend. I'll not be visiting other blogs much of the time next week either so don't take it personal ... I should be back to my regular schedule by March 30th if not sooner.

Great gal pal and sometimes collaborator, Melissa Morgan, is having a birthday today. No, we can't say how many but, trust me, when the spanking begins its gonna be a few whacks! As I worked on this piece the lyrics to an old Jim Croce song, "Time In A Bottle", kept racing 'round my head. There are only a few people in a lifetime that can make one feel this way and I've been lucky enough to have met more than my fair share in mine. Cheers to ya and bottoms up! Oops, sorry, the spanking comes later! :)

The Moody Monday theme this week is belligerent. I wasn't going to post anything this week until I realized there was an opportunity to connect this topic with the upcoming 4th of July celebration. The purpose of the American Revolution was to secure freedom from tyranny of all kinds but, perhaps one of the most precious freedoms we have is the right to freedom of speech. This piece is quite old and, until now, there haven't been additions to this series since 2005. As a body of work the pieces were always very personal for me, one might even say cathartic. In any case, there's really nothing further for me to say here except that, in spite of the distance between that time and this, some thoughts cannot be controlled, tamed or suppressed. "They", as referenced in the title, happen to be said thoughts. Personally? As already stated, I have nothing further to say. (Sigh).
