Thursday Challenge: Time -

"Measured in Rings"

At Thursday Challenge, time is the word of the week. As I was going back through my photo files I came upon an image of a tree that had been cut down, leaving a waist-high stump. I suddenly realized that the visible rings of the unmanipulated photograph were, indeed, a measure of time ... I wonder if that stump is still there? If it is, I might stop back to get a proper photo of the rings themselves and see how many years I can count. Always, there's something else to do!

It's that time (pun intended) of the week again and here we are at Illustration Friday once more. In some sense, the fashion sense as it were, new styles and trends seem to go back in time for inspiration. Contemporary designers who mine the old claims often as not give us a fresh twist composed of equal parts future and that new way of thinking about the past. Work it, baby! Baby work out!

Thursday Challenge: Time -

"Time for Contemplation"

The theme at Thursday Challenge this week is time. This photograph has a number of meanings for me in this context, beginning with the subject, an acquaintance of many years. Then there's the exhibition where this was taken, a very time consuming event requiring the effort of dozens of people. Then, there's the time spent in contemplation of the work at hand, works produced by many artists over varying periods of time. Finally, there's the culture itself, having roots that centuries old, informing the work on display. Time? Yes indeed.
