"Sister Existence With Her head in the Clouds"

If you're paying attention, you might well recognize our twisted sister. As this work progressed along the trail to the many trial images that lead to this piece another version was used elsewhere. For now, that's as much of a hint as you're likely to get. One parallel path for this is the fact that it was created at the time that news was received that Arthur C. Clarke had passed away ... then, a line from "2001: A Space Odyssey" came immediately to mind - "My God! It's full of stars!"

"Sister Existence Goes to the Big City"

I've had a run of successful pieces for The Mister Existence Series, all of them (including this one from last week) dealing with our beloved, if twisted, sister. I suppose this is all well and good in the end, since I have about 3 grueling weeks ahead with more night time and weekend meetings than I've had for quite a while at my work. I do hope you'll bear with me as I put so many up at once. It can't be helped at this busy, developmental part of the cultural season. Cheers then!

The early thinking over this piece was all about the empty suit, a dream and pop art/op art swirls of colors. Then, as is often the case, something else took over - in this case, our very sweet, if somewhat confused Sister Existence. The background is a multi-layered digital drawing gone awry that was turned into an abstract, smudge painting. I'm thinking that it could possibly stand on it's own and you can have a look at it here, if interested. Be that as it may, the suit was added, then Sister herself and then a bit more fiddling and manipulation. I feel like I'm rushing this piece in some way and, although I've spent plenty of time on it, I keep thinking that it should sit for a while. The last time I did that, though? The image never made it out of the files and it's almost a year old ... hmmm, perhaps I should give it a sixth chance at breaking out of jail? We'll see.

It's absolutely comical sometimes, the way a series of work lies dormant and then, all of a sudden, new work explodes out of the Secret Visual Laboratory! Last night I was just fiddling about, playing and having fun, trolling though FFFFOUND!, getting inspired and then getting to work. The piece changed dramatically over the few hours that I worked on it and this is the version that I decided to go with. It seemed to fit the series perfectly so, here 'tis!
