Illustration Friday: 100 % -

"Selfportrait of the Artist at 100%, Twice"
digital collage by Mick Mather
The theme at Illustration Friday this week, 100%, was as much fun to work on as it was to pose for. Jet setting like this in the "Swinging 60's" was one of the things that excessive, successful, fast-tracking rock & roll stars seemed to aspire to. It sure looks like fun to me - and woe to those wicked, heady days and debauched, boogie nights of the decade to follow that saw too many lifestyles that included just this sort of scenery blow right up ones nose! Fast forward to 1989 and the release of the comic spoof, "Weekend at Bernies", where one counter culture mantra was flummoxed by the cold, dead body of Bernie: "Live Fast, Die Young and Leave A Good Looking Corpse"! Uh huh.

Hey Mick! Great work! I like this (those colors really pop). I liked The Bridal Shop too (but, that's more girly now isn't it). Btw, I've tagged you in my blog. If you haven't the time to reply, no biggy, at the least it'll give folks a chance to check out your fine work.

Happy New Year!

A pair of mighty fine kudos (blush!) and a great big ol' "Boy Howdy Thank You Ma'am" for the tagging thingy. I'll drop by your place when I'm feelin' wider awake than I am right now and have a look-see. :)

Henh! What can I say? At the same time, Elvin Bishop said it right, "I fooled around and fell in love!" Anywho, thanks, darlin'! :)

LOL - It's also been said that, "those who say they remember the 60's couldn't have been there!" :D

Sorry no comments for your other works. It will cost me a week after the flu to see all the works of the other blogfriend. So you have to do it with this-one.
I hope you are ok

You know how much I get a kick out of doing The Selfportrait Series and thanks for the comment. Of course I have to ask about the absinthe and why it made you think of me. Color me curiouser and curiouser! :D

griesmail:
As with most of my work in The Selfportrait Series, Trijnie, it's a composite of at least two images - so, the short answer is, "Nope, that's not really me." I'm there in spirit though! :D

C'mon...that's not you and the ladies of the evening riding in a limo? Mick, you disappoint me! It is a groovy collage though!

LMAO - Laurel, you really must begin to pay closer attention! That's a Learjet Model 23 and those lovely lassies are the privileged spawn of International Wealth, not ladies of the evening. It's me for for now, but you guessed properly, not really. The only thing that kept me from actually being there was probably my financial statements and station in life! :D
