"Sailboat"digitally manipulated tempera-on-paper painting by Mick Mather It looks like another series has developed while I wasn't paying attention. Well, I have been, but not so sure about things until just now. It all started with this piece, continued with this piece and now I find myself here with at least another 6 paintings planned or in progress. Anyway I slice it, there just isn't time right now to go into any more detail and, yes, there's a lot more to say. As this series progresses, I'll fill in the gaps.Labels: Art Everyday by Mick Mather, digitally manipulated tempera-on-paper painting, NEW from The Toys Series, toys

Stormy weather. (I'm continuing your musical series.)
Oh, I like this! It's so delicate, so soft, so full of air and light!

Thanks for being the good camp follower, Hélène. :)

I was thinking along those same lines after looking at this finished version. Thanks for putting it into words for me, Susu. :)
Ahhh, sailing. This is moody, I like it.

Thanks, Sarah. This series of work, where I manipulate hastily done tempera-on paper paintings, has clearly given me some direction for the rest of the spring. It was your fault, too! I discovered Candy Pegram, my original inspiration for these, at your blog. :D
Why Mick you're just a "piddlin'" away! These are nice, there is a very simple beauty to them that I think the child in all of us can relate to. I especially like the jacks, oh how I LOVED to play jacks as a girl. I haven't seen them in years!!! Do they still make them? Thank you for bringing up a nice memory.
Brilliant!!! I love it. It has a sense of light and joy and decadence. I feel like you struck gold.
I look forward to seeing where you go with this and the bird house series. Wonderful and not at all depressing like the subject of my last post! Thankyou for your comments:)

It's always a delight when an artist can stir up an old memory and thanks for the comment. I don't know if they still make jacks but lots of photos come up on Google, some look contemporary. I bet they still do. :)

Once again, I blush at this comment on this particular series. I'm really playing and having fun with it for the most part. However, I have no illusions that this body of work is already breathing by itself. :)
