As I continue to play with my drawing program and filters that I seldom use in my usual work, out pops this one for the weekly theme of open at Illustration Friday. As a conceptual piece this works fine for me right now. It also addresses that other sticky issue of being seduced by what at first appears to be the low hanging fruit sometimes known as instant success. I've been working long and hard at these pieces that are wholly in a new and different direction. I know the new style is jarring and not so popular with a few of you ... please bear with me. :)Labels: $50 unframed - LUCAS GALLERY, an Artwork a Day by Mick Mather, Illustration Friday

this is actually very musical in its repeated patterns and rhythms...
i like the color mix/line arrangement and the idea of fruit and instant success that goes along with it.

I see what you mean even though that wasn't in mind as I worked on this piece. As I've said a few times before, it's always a thrill when others bring something to an image that I don't see.

Many thanks for this thoughtful comment. These days, it's a myth that digital artists merely push buttons while filters and generators do all of the work. Unfortunately, that idea has somehow become firm in the thinking of many purists. It's a challenge and a lot of hard work to take such imagery further along and get it to go where I want it to instead of where it ends up.
Musical is the word I was thinking about too.
The colour scene is amazing and the geometrical too! This pic is really music in my ears.

The more I think about this being a musical piece, the more I see that it is! :)

All I can say is thanks with my usual blush. These digital drawings are a lot of fun to accomplish - even more fun to hear what you think about them. :)
I actually see a guy going towards a woman. I like it...it works!

Thank you, Laurel, that's exactly what it is. Including a most fabulous and delicious ballroom gown on our temptress! :D
This is super, Mick. Good luck. I love the colors and lines! Nice balance.
I was thinking of entering my rose, but I'm trying to do it over bog.
