Illustration Friday: Late -

"A Swing and A Miss"
digital collage by Mick Mather
Illustration Friday offers late this week for a theme. Right about now I feel almost as despondent as this slugger must, albeit if for different reasons, when sometimes in life you give it a go and come up empty. There are levels of meaning for me here that are reflected in this theme and certainly in this image ... still, 'nuff said. Both of us are going to come up swinging at the next fast ball thrown our way; of that there is no doubt. :)

For me, this illo represents last night's awesome game between the Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays!

If I thought about every time I had a swing and a miss, I'd have to kill myself ;)

Oh...this is making me feel sad about the end of another summer and the fact that my White Sox choked in the end. Love summer and baseball. Nice illustration.

Thanks so much and I'll get another turn at bat very soon. :)

I have to say thanks for noticing ... it's that exact look of a uniform carrying all these shades of ground in brown! :D

studio lolo:
I know what you mean, Laurel! We better stop counting, like, right now! :D

Great big thanks here, Rietz! Just in case things got out of control over at your place, I must quote the team manager portrayed by Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own , "Are you crying? There's NO CRYING in baseball!" :D

I hadn't realized that the tone of this post might be interpreted as dire. Nothing I'm experiencing is any more serious than what any number of a million of us have to deal with every day ... except, of course, that it's happening to me! Thanks for the encouragement and the encouraging words. :)

I like this. It's soft and full of movement, going forward despite the miss.

Have a nice weekend, Mick.

Once again you hit the nail on the head ... oops, I should've said you "hit a home run!" Even as I was writing this post I was moving forward. Thanks for the extra, added treat of a wonderful dance routine with the song. :)

I think this piece has great energy! There are many misses before the hits... and I hope you're feeling the good vibes! I also really like the texture you've created... overall, a fine piece!
