"With A Gleam in Her Eye" digital collage by Mick Mather
There's an expressionist quality about this piece that continues to shake me each time I look at it. I love it one minute and hate it the next. On the bright side, the power it holds to pull me back in over and over is a good thing ... I think. :)
hpy: Hmm, now that you've planted the seed, I can see Mark Twain in this. As for Susu seeing a man in a white moustache? I don't know, she's sounding terribly lonely again lately ... I suppose it must be the season.
Well, aren't we in an abstract mood of late? It seems to me your last few pieces have a more, shall we say "contemporary" feel to them, or maybe it's just me? Not that that's bad mind you, it's not. Btw, do you print your work out? Or is it always in digital form, just curious.
shani: I have been doing a lot more contemporary work, I can't really explain why though. In addition, I'm moving quickly into the arena of sculpture with many of my recent land art works - a delayed path of almost 30 years while mastering and concentrating on printmaking. As regards my digital work, I do have images reproduced, but only in regard to a sale or an exhibition opportunity.
In its short-sightedness, blogger has turned its back on those of us stuck with old operating systems and I'm forced to find a new blog host. You will now find MickMathersARTblog at Blog.com - use the direct link found in the masthead and remember to update your bookmarks.
This place will continue as another archive for a large body of my work. As many of you know, my primary medium and working method is digital collage composed of manipulated photographs often combined with digital drawing & generative images.
Netlabels, bands and musicians can view samples of my CD Cover Art at Mick Mather Illustration located on Tumblr.
In another life I was an Arts & Culture consultant specializing in revitalization planning through creative public art projects and programs with Economic & Community Development Departments of towns, villages and cities. In these hard financial times this work is more important than ever and I still accept consultancy inquiries. You can contact me by email at: mickmather@yahoo.com

A death mask or a hollow ghost.

Well said ... both of those ideas occur to me also. Proving that great minds think alike! :D
In HER eye. I'm sure it's a male with a big white moustache.
Oh, yes they do :)
